2013 Shakespeare Awards Poetry Contest President's Award Winner Alan Cook (middle), Bonny Cook (left) and fellow poet, a SA Honorable Mention winner last year, Gwen Binegar (right). Alan is holding his proclamation congratulating on his award from CA State Senator Ted Lieu.
Shakespeare Awards 2013 President's Award was given to Alan L. Cook, a poet whose work is published worldwide.
One of Alan's poems, "Berlin Wall" a previous winner in the Shakespeare Poetry Contest, is in the Berlin Wall Museum (mauermuseum) in Germany. A long time member of South West Manuscripters and other writing groups, Alan has won 4 years in a row in the Shakespeare Awards Poetry Contest. Shakespeare judges rotate, and are not always local. They do not have the poet's name (as blind contest). So, these four wins is quite an accomplishment!
